Saudi fintech Abwab.ai raises $4m in seed round led by Speedinvest

Saudi Arabian fintech Abwab.ai has raised $4 million (SAR 15 million) in a seed funding round led by European venture capital firm Speedinvest, with participation from Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP). The deal, announced on September 21, 2026, marks Speedinvest’s first investment in Saudi Arabia.

💰 What does Abwab.ai do?

Founded in Riyadh in 2023, Abwab.ai develops AI-powered technology that helps banks, finance companies and other lenders provide financing to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Importantly, Abwab.ai does not lend money itself. Instead, it provides the technological infrastructure that allows financial institutions to automate much of the lending process, including:

  • onboarding businesses;
  • credit assessment and decision-making;
  • loan origination;
  • disbursement;
  • billing and servicing;
  • collections and recovery.

🤖 Why is AI important?

Financing SMEs can be expensive for financial institutions because assessing a small company traditionally involves significant manual work.

Abwab.ai uses AI and data-driven credit assessment to accelerate these decisions and enable lenders to process a larger number of SME applications. The company says its technology can help turn credit decisions that traditionally take much longer into much faster, automated processes.

📈 A growing SME financing market

According to the company and Saudi reporting, financial institutions using Abwab.ai's technology have processed more than SAR 10 billion in SME loans across more than 10 institutions. Its customers include Abdul Latif Jameel Finance, Kafalah, Hala and Lendo.

Saudi Arabia is also seeking to increase the economic contribution of SMEs as part of Vision 2030, with a target of raising their contribution to GDP to 35% by 2030, compared with about 20% as the cited baseline.

🌍 What will the funding be used for?

The new capital is intended to support the expansion of Abwab.ai's AI-powered lending infrastructure, particularly its use by financial institutions serving SMEs.

The investment also gives Abwab.ai an international dimension: Speedinvest describes the company as an AI-driven fintech capable of addressing the broader financing challenges faced by SMEs across the Middle East and Africa, not only Saudi Arabia.

In short: Abwab.ai is building the technological infrastructure behind SME lending, using AI to help financial institutions assess businesses faster, automate lending operations and potentially expand access to financing.
