"I Can't Describe How Disappointed and Saddened We Are": Saudi Players React to World Cup Exit

Saudi Arabia's players expressed deep disappointment after their FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign ended with a goalless draw against Cape Verde, a result that eliminated the Green Falcons from the group stage. The team needed a victory to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds alive.

Defender Mohammed Al-Shanqiti said the squad was devastated by the outcome.

"I can't describe how disappointed and saddened we are. We truly believed we could make our fans happy, but unfortunately we couldn't achieve our goal."

He added that the players gave everything on the pitch but were unable to secure the result they needed.

Full-back Nawaf Boushal also apologized to Saudi supporters, thanking them for their unwavering backing throughout the tournament. He stressed that the team would learn from the experience and return stronger in future competitions.

Saudi Arabia finished the group stage without enough points to advance, with Spain's victory over Uruguay in the other group match confirming the Green Falcons' elimination.
